FAQs
Will I receive the exact plant pictured?
Unless otherwise stated in the listing, yes. We photograph individual specimens so you can see the actual plant you are purchasing. Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the plant's description.
How are plants shipped?
Plants are carefully prepared and packaged to help protect them during transit. Most cacti are shipped bare root unless otherwise stated in the listing. Some temporary dehydration, wrinkling, soil loss, or minor cosmetic changes can occur during shipping and are normal for live plants.
Where do you ship?
We currently ship within the United States. Shipping availability and restrictions may vary depending on the plant and destination.
Do you combine shipping?
Yes. When possible, we are happy to combine multiple plants into one shipment. Please contact us before or shortly after purchasing so we can determine the best shipping arrangement.
Do I need a heat pack?
Probably! We recommend adding a heat pack when temperatures along the shipping route or at the destination may fall below 50°F. Because weather conditions vary considerably during transit, customers are responsible for determining whether a heat pack is appropriate for their order.
What should I do when my plant arrives?
Carefully unpack your plant as soon as possible and inspect it. Plants shipped bare root may appear slightly dehydrated after transit. Allow the plant time to acclimate before exposing it to intense sunlight or making major changes to its growing conditions.
When should I water a newly arrived cactus?
We generally recommend allowing a recently shipped or repotted cactus time to settle before watering, particularly if roots were disturbed during shipping. The appropriate timing depends on the species, season, root condition, and growing environment.
What if my plant is damaged during shipping?
Please contact us promptly after delivery and provide clear photographs of the plant, packaging, and shipping box. For significant shipping damage, we may also request an unboxing video so we can properly evaluate what occurred during transit.
Do you accept returns?
Because our products are live plants, we generally do not accept returns. Please carefully review the listing photographs, description, measurements, and other information before purchasing. If there is a problem with your order, contact us so we can review the situation.
Are your plant identifications guaranteed?
We make every reasonable effort to accurately identify the plants we offer. However, cactus identification can sometimes be uncertain, particularly with hybrids, cultivars, juvenile plants, and specimens without documented provenance. Unless specifically stated otherwise, identification should be considered our best assessment rather than a guarantee.
Will my plant look exactly the same after I receive it?
Plants are living organisms and naturally change over time. Color, hydration, shape, spination, farina, flowering, and other characteristics can vary with season and growing conditions. We cannot guarantee a plant's future appearance, growth, flowering, or variegation.
Do you sell rare or collector-grade plants?
Yes. Carrie & Co. Cactus focuses on distinctive and collectible plants, including uncommon species, mature specimens, variegated plants, unusual forms, and other exceptional cacti as they become available.
